Cate has 15 years of experience in consultancy and project roles in the financial services sector. She has provided strategic, financial and operational consulting services to a broad range of companies both in the UK and abroad. She has extensive experience of establishing systems and processes for blue-chip banks including Barclays and Lloyds TSB. At the latter, she designed a performance measurement framework to determine the business benefit achieved through their e-Enablement initiatives. Most recently she worked for Investec as a consultant in their Specialised Lending division.
Cate completed her Commerce degrees at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa and an MBA from Ashridge Business School. Before coming to the UK in 1998 she lived in South Africa were she worked as a Credit analyst in Johannesburg and Operations Manager in Cape Town. She has teaching and training experience from University days when she taught English and Economics to 15, 16 and 17 year olds to subsequent workplaces where she designed and delivered training as part of staff development programmes.
Cate left Investec in 2007 to spend more time with her baby daughter, Amy. She started The Cool Head Company in 2008 and is enjoying life as a mom-entrepreneur.
Before starting The Cool Head Company, Kate Kuper worked for the World Bank for nearly ten years in various countries and continues to consult for them. During her career at the World Bank Kate was a project manager for a number of complex, large multi-million dollar projects where she has developed her skills in project management, client service, team building and facilitation.
Kate has an M.Phil in International Relations specializing in Economics from Cambridge University (UK) and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (France). She completed her undergraduate degree in law and economics at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1991. Before joining the World Bank, Kate worked as a management consultant and as a government official. In the past 14 years, Kate has lived and worked in London, Washington DC, Paris, Cambridge, Sydney, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Her inspiration for The Cool Head Company came from three things: a desire to empower women and children, her inquisitive stepchildren Jake and Sophie, and her need to stop travelling so much for work and settle into life in London.
Kelly Heymans has extensive teaching experience, having taught in both London and South Africa. Presently she is working at Willow Brook School in Leyton as the Speech and Language teacher. Before that she worked at Betty Layward Primary School in Stoke Newington supporting small groups of pupils in numeracy and literacy. She also ran the extramural drama clubs for the senior and junior groups. She obtained her QTS in April 2007.
In South Africa Kelly taught Drama and English in secondary schools, working in both public and private schools systems. When working for IEB, the Independent Examination Board, she was the national assessor for acting exams and involved in the national assessment of Drama and English examinations at matriculation level. She worked mainly in schools in Johannesburg; Sacred Heart College and Roedean School for girls. When the new outcomes based education policy was adopted, she helped write and trial the new arts curriculum. Part of the programme involved teacher training at the Soweto Teachers’ Training College. In 1989 she started a communications business called Dialogue, which developed communication skills for business.
