Personal Finance

The following modules have
been developed to cover
the financial capability syllabus  
and develop the themes of 
financial understanding, financial
competence and financial responsibility. 

Module 1: Home
 
Recognise household expenses and regular financial commitments.
Decide how to spend money, balancing needs and wants.
Understand about different sources of income (salary, pension, benefits).
Understand that there is an ethical component to financial decisions.
Understand that saving is good.
Understand about insurance.

Module 2: Work
Understand how we get money for work and about deductions.

Module 3: Shopping
Understand that cash isn't the only way to pay for goods and services and learn about the alternatives.
Be able to assess best buys in a variety of circumstances.
Understand the difference between good and bad debt.

Module 4: Banking
Understand about keeping money safe and financial record keeping.
Understand that we may get money from money by saving.

Start your own Business
An introduction to our version of Dragon’s Den. It will include developing a business idea and crafting a business plan. It will conclude with a presentation to the potential investors with Q&A. Emphasizes teamwork, creativity, analysis and presentation skills.
