Be entertained and trained!
How many adults will be present at the children’s courses?
There will always be an adult to every 8 to 10 children between the ages of 8-11 for holiday and half-term courses.
Are your courses inclusive?
Absolutely, and depending on the course and needs of the person, their carer is most welcome to attend and join in the activities!
Do I need to have any background in business or finance to attend the women’s course Finance Fitness?
Definitely not! The course is designed for women who have no, or very limited prior knowledge or background.
Can you assist with child care arrangements while I attend Finance Fitness?
We do not directly provide this, but we would be happy to ask other participants if they would be prepared to share a baby-sitter.
I know a guy who would like to attend Finance Fitness. Can he?
Finance Fitness is designed specifically for women, and our research shows that some women feel less free to talk about issues in male company. However, we are considering a version of the programme that would include both men and women. Please let us know by email if this would appeal to you.
What do you do about Health and Safety?
We feel very strongly about providing a safe environment for all people on our courses. We choose venues that are secure and reputable. Our adult/child ratios ensure children can be supervised and our course coordinators are responsible, well trained and have experience with children. At all times there is a facilitator with First Aid experience on site. Parents and carers need to inform the staff of any conditions or ailments so we can be aware of them and accommodate any needs. We make sure that all visits are carefully supervised and controlled (See our Health and Safety Policy).
My child is worried that she will be the oldest in the group.
Tell her not to worry! For teamwork your child will be with others of her own age range. Also, all our activities can be enjoyed at different levels of complexity by a range of ages.
Do we need to send a packed lunch for the children?
Yes, most parents prefer to have control over their children’s diet, particularly where allergies are concerned. Please do not include any items containing nuts.
Isn’t age 8 too early to expose children to career information?
8 year olds have attended the course and enjoyed it thoroughly.
How does BizKidz link with the School Curriculum, if at all?
The framework for PSHE provides for finance education to be taught as an option through Key Stages 1 - 4. Related economic rights and responsibilities are covered in Citizenship. Most parents interviewed for our market research felt basic finance and economics was not sufficiently covered, if at all and this is confirmed by the recent Cambridge study showing there are 9 million financially phobic Britons.
Will both my son and daughter enjoy the course?
Yes, the course is designed to appeal to both boys and girls.
If my child has already attended BizKidz, would it still be fun for her to come another time?
Yes! We have designed the activities so that they are sufficiently varied and flexible to be exciting on a repeat basis.
Do you offer courses for university students?
Yes. Many people have expressed interest in Financial Skills for College Students and Managing your Gap Year.
Do you offer other courses for adults?
We are currently offering a course on financial literacy for women called Finance Fitness but we would be interested in hearing what other courses you would like us to provide. Please email us!
